Hotel Intercontinental Chicago - Magnificent Mile
We always have a great time when we stay in this property. Whether it’s for pleasure or business it just has a great vibe.

We love getting to the Mag Mile at least once a year. Strangely, we find that we especially love it during the Christmas holiday season. There are so many shops to stop in to and watering holes to visit. We love just walking around and looking at all the Christmas decorations. When we get cold, we simply make a stop and have a refreshment or an appetizer!
When we go, our first choice for lodging is always the Intercontinental. These out of season months are usually quite affordable, even on weekends! This is one of our favorite stays anywhere in the world. The facility itself is amazing. Especially when staying in a higher floor in the Executive Tower on the Southwest corner. The views of both Michigan Avenue and the old Chicago Tribune building are amazing. We often sit at night with a glass of wine and look out the windows and listen to the sirens… Oddly, the sirens somehow compliment the mood for us in this stay.
When we get hungry, Lou Malnatti’s is always a great choice. Lao Sze Chuan, which is directly across the street is a great lighter alternative to a heavy meal. Tony’s Chicken is my favorite and we always get extra spicy cabbage. When we want an option that is a bit more upscale, we make the short walk to Rosebud’s on Rush for a local favorite Italian spot. Everything is great but Carolyn always enjoys the Linguini with Clams. The velvety butter wine sauce is magical. When we want a real treat (or don’t feel like braving the cold), we just stay at the hotel and eat at the house restaurant - Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse. I believe that this steakhouse is underrated. The Steaks are fantastic like any steakhouse but the appetizers is what sets this restaurant apart. The garlic bread and cheese sauce is amazing. The crab cakes are the best around. They are all crab. No fillers used - at all. But the Nueske’s Bacon is next level. The extra thick cut bacon is kissed with just the right amount of smokiness and then perfectly glazed with the right complimentary amount of brown sugar glaze. We have made a meal out of the Dream Team appetizer more than once. It’s the perfect trio of apps. The garlic bread, the crab cakes and the Nueske’s Bacon. Very delicious! They also make a mean ol’ fashion and have great wine selections. The only thing I would change is to bring the bone marrow short rib back as an appetizer. Anyone that has had that before they took it off the menu, know what I’m talking about. Regardless, this experience never gets old for me. That’s why it’s one of our best go to’s. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.

The Nueske Bacon is unique and the crab cakes are the best around. Everything else is just the icing on the 23 layer chocolate cake.
